2023 Calgary Stampede Parade Marshal

Jeremy Hansen

The Calgary Stampede is over the moon to announce that Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen will lead the 2023 Stampede Parade.

The Stampede Parade presented by Suncor marks the official start of Stampede 2023!

Hansen will become the first Canadian to venture to the moon as part of the historic Artemis II mission. It’s the first crewed mission to leave Earth’s orbit since 1972 and will pave the way for deeper space exploration, including to Mars. Before he leaves the earth, Hansen will kick off The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth by leading the legendary Stampede Parade as Parade Marshal.

Born January 27, 1976, in London, Ontario, and raised on a farm near Ailsa Craig, Ontario, until moving to Ingersoll for his high school years. Colonel Hansen is married with three children. He enjoys sailboat cruising and racing, rock climbing and mountain biking.
