Miesha Louie is a mixed-Secwépemc artist living in Treaty 7 Territory, and The Spanks are the many drummers who’ve stood beside her on stage. Sean Hamilton is her latest and longest partner, and together they’ve spent the last 5 years building and embellishing their garage-rock sound into something almost too big for two people to contain.

Deeply influenced by proto-punk classics like The Runaways, MC5, Stooges, and 90s riot grrrl/ grunge like L7 and The Gits, Miesha & The Spanks conjure an energy that hits you in the face, throwing you into a world of killer riffs and sweaty gig venues. And it’s in those sweaty spaces that Miesha & The Spanks thrive, fresh off the highway, out of the van, and onto the stage. Set to release new tracks “Dig Me Out” and “I Can’t Wait” in Spring 2022, recorded and produced at Brighton Electric by Danny Farrant (The Buzzcocks) and Paul Rawson, this new music is building towards Miesha & The Spanks, Danny, and Paul’s sophomore album together, a follow up to 2018’s “Girls Girls Girls” which landed #1 on Earshot!’s National Loud charts in Canada, as well as #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown, winning 3 local music awards.

Miesha & The Spanks released their recent EP, Singles, mid-pandemic, landing adds on CBC Radio 3 and SiriusXM’s The Indigiverse, features on The Rodney Bingenheimer Show, Strombo Show, Hockey Night in Canada, BBC6 Recommends with Steve Lamacq, and more. Although touring was impossible, the duo managed to squeeze in some festivals and performed at Future Echoes, Reeperbahn, Tallinn Music Week, and an Enki Music/Breakout West showcase in London, as well as locally and at Siksika Nation.

Miesha & The Spanks were 2021 Nominees for Rock Artist Of The Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, a first time nomination for them, and a testament to their drive and spirit. A DIY punk band at heart, Miesha and Sean bring everything they have to the table and continue to challenge themselves - and their art - as their new music will testify.
